Investing in the Communities We Serve

Community Contributions

Giving back is at the heart of who we are. Through our Community Contributions program, we proudly support local nonprofit organizations that make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities throughout our region.

Our Community Contributions Timeline

Our commitment to giving back is intentional and ongoing. Through structured annual contributions, we partner with nonprofit organizations that align with our values and create meaningful, lasting impact in the communities we serve.

Established the Community Contributions Program to support nonprofit organizations and strengthen community impact through structured annual contributions.

Harlie’s Angels – Q4 2025 (Inaugural Donation)

Jennifer and Jeff DeSarmo started Harlie’s Angels in 2013 after losing their daughter Harlie in a tragic accident. In her memory, Harlie’s Angels empowers teens to become responsible and respectful young adults through service, sports, and everyday life. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, they are dedicated to keeping Harlie’s spirit alive by making a positive impact in the lives of young people.

Delta Animal Shelter – Q1 2026

Delta Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the direct care of animals in Delta County. After the County Board of Commissioners voted to permanently close the Delta County Animal Shelter due to budget cuts in 2011, The Delta Area Animal Society was formed to ensure the animals would still receive shelter, food, and medical care. Today, the shelter provides care for over 1,200 animals annually, helping them reunite with owners or find new homes.

Embertrack k9 – Q2 2026

EmberTrack K9 is a nonprofit committed to community safety, fire prevention education, and supporting Jet’s mission to serve with heart and paws. Jet, led by handler Zach Denome, is a black German Shepherd born right here in Delta County. After being surrendered as a puppy, he was welcomed into the Alger Correctional Facility’s training program, where he learned basic obedience and built a foundation for the important work he’s doing today. When Zach began looking for the right dog to train as an arson K9, Jet instantly stood out. From their very first meeting in Munising, the connection was undeniable—and the two have been a team ever since.

Now 21 months old, Jet is undergoing specialized training to detect multiple types of accelerants. This skill allows him to assist fire departments when arson is suspected, helping bring clarity and safety to critical situations. Jet is also being trained in human tracking so he can aid in locating missing individuals throughout the region.

Zach and Jet’s work is an investment in our community’s safety. Between professional training, specialized gear, and equipment to keep Jet safe and comfortable on the job, Ember Track K9 continues to grow with the help of local support.
